About Alister

Alister is a monster-taming RPG — think classic creature-collecting gameplay with a modern visual style, built from the ground up in Godot 4. Catch creatures to increase your odds of winning, or swap in and join the battle yourself. Fight alongside your monsters in 1v1 or 2v2 battles.

The game will release on this website and Steam. As a solo developer, there are no current plans to port to console.

There is no release date at the moment. A demo will be posted on the website in the coming months.

No. Alister has no NFTs, crypto, or blockchain elements of any kind. The game is focused on a single-player experience.

No. No Ai generated art will be in the game.

Monsters & Mechanics

Instead of the usual elemental types, Alister builds its type chart around emotions — Willpower, Hope, Fear, Rage, Love, Joy, Envy, Sorrow, Pride, and more — each with its own strengths and weaknesses across the Spectrum. Along with elemental changes, tamers themselves are able to hop into battle.

Each monster has access to two abilities: their standard ability and their overflow ability. Abilities act similar to many other monster-taming games. Overflow abilities are a one-time use on switch-in — they let your monster use a unique move when their active bar is full.

The game will feature 50–60 monsters.

Accounts & Codes

An account lets you redeem shiny and promo codes, keeps a permanent record of everything you've redeemed, and will let you purchase codes directly on the site once that's live.

Shiny and promo codes unlock cosmetic rewards as a way to support development. Log in to your account, go to your profile, and enter the code in the redemption field — it's applied instantly and saved to your redemption history.

Check your profile's redeemed-codes list first to confirm it went through. If it's still missing, reach out on Discord or by email with your username and the code you tried, and it'll get sorted out.

No, there are no in-game purchases. The game has a single-player focus. Codes can only be bought on the website, and shiny codes are simply a way to support development — they give no in-game advantages, only cosmetic changes.
